Colin Fry

Director & Consulting Arborist

Colin Fry has spent the past two decades as a devoted arborist in Tasmania, and has been director of the Tasmanian Arboriculture Group since its inception in 2014. He is passionate about leading a purpose-led organisation that is a vessel for change, and investing in the personal and professional growth of his employees through arboriculture.

Rogan McPhie

Operations Manager

Rogan McPhie is the embodiment of integrity. His role is to set an example through positive actions and behaviours to our employees and clients. Rogan is responsible for our operational systems and crew training.

Abby is a highly skilled professional with over 25 years of experience in large engineering consultancy firms. Hunter Church fully qualified Cert 3 Arborist. Nothing is too difficult for Hunter and he is an expert machine operator. Hunter's role is to manage the quality and safety of the work on site. He is caring and a good listener which makes him a pleasure to deal with. We have no doubt that Hunter will be here for many years and we look forward to seeing which direction he chooses to take in his career.

Mackenzie

COMMERCIAL ASSET MANAGER

Mackenzie is a Commercial Client Manager. He is responsible for managing the care of tree assets for commercial and residential clients to ensure their long term health and amenity. With a bachelors degree in Natural Environment and Wilderness studies, and Cert III in arboriculture Mackenzie has experience in the public and private sector. Mackenzie believes in the value of trees and the benefits that trees bring to people and the environment.

MANAGER

With eight years of experience in arboriculture and a Certificate III qualification, Callum worked with multiple tree companies before finding his place at Tasmanian Tree Care. Starting as a Crew Leader, he is now transitioning into his current role, bringing leadership, expertise, and a passion for trees to every project.

James Armstrong

SYSTEMS MANAGER (Equipment)

With over 18 years of experience in the arboriculture industry, James Armstrong brings a unique blend of practical expertise and technical innovation to his role as Systems Manager at Tasmanian Tree Care. Having worked extensively in tree care operations and management, James has developed a deep understanding of both fieldwork and the systems that support it.At Tasmanian Tree Care, James is responsible for developing and implementing systems across all areas of the business to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. He also oversees equipment management, including maintenance scheduling, reactive repairs, and compliance for climbing equipment. His hands-on experience as a Climbing Arborist and Crew Leader keeps him connected to field operations, ensuring practical, effective solutions.James is passionate about integrating modern technology into arboriculture and fostering professional growth within the industry. His leadership reflects a commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable tree care practices.

With a strong background in vertical work, Nico spent six years as an instructor and builder of ziplines and aerial courses at an adventure park. During COVID, he transitioned into arboriculture in Argentina, a profession he learned through hands-on experience and collaboration with fellow climbers. His passion for rock climbing, working at heights, and nature made the transition a natural fit.Keen to expand his skills, Nico joined an arboriculture association and later moved to Australia.
Nico values the professionalism and expertise around him and is eager to continue learning and developing in the industry.

Do you provide a service for managing risk to the public?

School business managers, golf course or park managers and councils all require management of their arboriculture assets. We specialise in tree management, and can provide a comprehensive plan that ensures you are able to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for your patrons or the public. If you have one tree or four hundred trees, we can help .

What reports does a Project Arborist provide?

We work with select developers, building designers, architects and individual land owners to achieve their development goals. If there are trees on the block which need to be considered, we can help. We recommend clients get in touch with us early in the process to avoid issues with your development application. Most developments start with a preliminary assessment then move on to an impact assessment and tree protection plan.

What does a consulting arborist do?

Our role is to provide solutions that find the right balance of appropriate development and the retention of suitable trees. We are passionate supporters of urban forests and the positive impacts they have on individual property owners as well as the wider community. The benefits of living with well maintained trees in our communities include: well-documented health and wellbeing improvements, increases in property value, reduction in energy consumption and environmental services.
